Use of Biometrics
Governments in EU use biometrics mostly for border control. To Identify and verify the person
crossing the border control point. The EES system has accelerated the adoption of biometric
capturing for border control and subsequently voting. We can observe many countries taking
steps in the direction of digitalization of governmental services and this would be 2 examples
of it.
For governmental use we have three ways of providing services. We have mobile tablets, Kiosks and cases for biometric capturing. Each offers its own advantages.
Kiosks
SSK (self service kiosk) captures fingerprints and takes high quality pictures of the face and scans the personal ID or passport. It has additional lighting and a touch screen to navigate the procedure and providing feedback to the customer.
Mobile tablets
Provide similar services but in a smaller package. It's suited best in fast paced enviroments. It is lightweight with a battery lasting as much as 12 hours. One unique platform offers acces to all mobile biometric needs: Fingerprint, Face, iris and Document capture – 1:1 authenticationa and 1:N verification)
